The hand I was dealt

Veterans Affairs wanted to give VA personnel a tool for creating training materials and uploading documents, and to support clinicians with manikin-based clinical training, medical training facilitated through the use of life-size patient models that simulate patient behavior. It would provide standard operating procedures, clinical practice standards, and facility-specific, focused learning needs.

To maintain the confidentiality of the AI assistant's product name and honor existing NDAs, it's referred to here as "VA GPT."

My contributions

• Led initial design direction and enhanced visual styling for improved accessibility
• Collaborated within a cross-functional team to create a usable LLM interface
• Conducted user research and testing for the LLM MVP release
• Owned creating a collaborative baseline design system for the LLM
• Improved user flows and UI design to increase document-upload efficiency, citation accuracy, and PII security
